On retreat, all you need to do is arrive. The rest is taken care for you. In a space that feels safe and homely, you can simply let go.
When you became a mother, everything changed. You split in two: the woman you used to be, and the woman you are now.
And you’ve felt lost for so long trying to put them back together. You are constantly being pulled in so many different directions. Katrina is the founder of Hart Retreats, an accredited Matrescence facilitator, mindfulness meditation teacher and health and life coach, and she is passionate about ensuring that every woman feels seen, valued, and supported in their motherhood journey.
Katrina’s own transition into motherhood was a difficult one. Katrina struggled through the first year of motherhood trying to be a good mum, a successful career woman, wife, and friend. Katrina found the competing devotions of motherhood stressful and overwhelming. Katrina completely lost a sense of who she was.
Over the last 8 years since becoming a mother, Katrina questioned everything about motherhood. Why did she have one foot in love and gratitude and one foot in resentment and anger? Why did it feel so hard? Was it normal to feel this exhausted and anxious? Why did she feel so guilty? Where did this shame come from? Why did she feel like she wasn’t good enough when she never felt like that before?
Over the last 3 years, Katrina has sat with hundreds of women on retreat, and she has heard the same familiar story, how exhausting it is to juggle all the balls and how hard it is to keep up with the competing devotions of motherhood. Throw in a global pandemic and it was clear how much mothers were suffering.
Katrina started to look for some answers as to why so many women felt so exhausted, depleted, disconnected, and completely burnt out and why so many women found it so hard to prioritise themselves and practice self-care.
Katrina says that mindfulness has been a key ingredient to becoming a calm and mindful mama and living life with more joy and ease and purpose. She started her business because she was passionate about sharing the benefits of slowing down and finding stillness in a very busy and distracted world. But when she discovered Matrescence, she knew it was the missing ingredient. Together, Katrina wholeheartedly believes that mindfulness and matrescence is the secret sauce to living life with more joy, vitality, and abundance.
Because now more than ever, the world needs mamas to feel their best, not just for themselves but for the next generation. It’s time for mamas to rise and create a world where women feel seen, supported, and understood.
Catherine is a certified relationship coach and Matresence Facilitator, helping frustrated mums get the support, peace, and connection they want and deserve.
After experiencing struggle in her own marriage, Catherine searched for answers for herself and so many other mothers who felt resentful and unsupported in their relationships.
Conventional advice would help at the edges, but change didn’t seem to last. It was when she learned the skills and habits of intimacy that big shifts began. She became happier and changed how she showed up in her family life and marriage – and everyone changed in response. Anxiety disappeared as connection grew with her kids. Resentment melted between her, and her husband and he began to step up and take responsibility in ways that had seemed elusive for so long. Now, her intimate marriage and home is the thing she values most.
Catherine now teaches these same skills to mothers from around the world in private coaching and intimate workshops. It is her delight to watch women shift from feeling hopeless and alone, to becoming supported, energised and hopeful about the intimacy and family connection they are creating each day.
Thaly is a qualified chef with more than 8 years’ experience in various different kitchen environments. She became vegetarian in 2016, and coupled with a strong background in the fitness industry, she began studying vegetarian nutrition. This was the beginning of her journey as a vegan chef.
Thaly uses her creativity, skills and knowledge to create beautiful plant-based meals. She has been supporting people to establish a healthy lifestyle with a focus on sustainable and ethical eating since 2017. Thaly promotes her passion for healthy food by providing cooking classes, catering retreats and workshops, and offering private chef services and ready-to-eat meals around the Gold Coast and Brisbane region.
